Lanzarote Christian fellowship is an English speaking Church

Founder Member Peter & Colleen Maddison

in Municipality of Tias. Peter Maddison tells of its Inception:  My love for Lanzarote started on our first holiday in 1979 and we finally bought a property in Puerto Del Carmen in 1996. However, my involvement with the English speaking Churches on the island did not start until after we had moved to Tias in 2000 when my father came for his first holiday here on his 95th birthday and wanted to visit a local Church . There we met  Alan and Barbara Shaw who had a Church in a basement at the back of The Deiland Shopping Centre. Alan was a great inspiration to me and a very good friend until, sadly, he passed away . The Church  moved to The Hotel Barcelo in Costa Teguise, about 9 years ago.

“In the back of my mind, I always had the sense that there was a very real need for an inter-denominational Church in Tias itself. What I had always hoped for became possible when  Adrian Hallett, a retired  Anglican clergyman and his wife Hazel, relocated to Lanzarote in 2014. He helped set up and lead weekly church services. The timing was absolutely right for my ‘dream’ to become a reality and the church met for the first time, on Palm Sunday, 20th March 2016.

“This inter-denominational church is known as ‘Lanzarote Christian Fellowship’ and was led by Adrian  with the blessing of some  visiting preachers such as the inspirational Bob Nicholls  who went to Glory April 2026 until November 2025 when Adrian moved back to Uk after the loss of his beloved wife Hazel.

In the interim period as we prayerfully seek Gods will and a new minister our leadership team has taken on the day to day running of the fellowship. the team is headed up by founding member and elder Gerie (Geraldine) Barber. We are church open to everyone and, if you decide to pay us a visit, you will be assured of a very warm welcome! We hold our services every Sunday at 11 am .

We are  small, humble , praying fellowship  and currently meet together in one large room for now.  Our dream is that, God willing, we will have a flourishing Christian community not only here in Tias, but also in Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise, Nazaret  and Puerto Del Carmen, all working together to provide places of worship within easy reach of everyone living on the island.  A very different scene from my first visit to Lanzarote in 1979!”

The Scriptures were not given to increase our knowledge but to change our lives.” D. L. Moody.
